Strong4Life has created an ad campaign based in Atlanta, Georgia that has been running since mid august. The campaign uses copy that is extremely offensive to the obese population. "It's hard to be a little girl when you're not." and "Being fat takes the fun out of being a kid." are just some of the copy used in this ad campaing. I am baffled that this even got out of the idea room. Im not so worried that they thought of it in the board room but for someone to sit there and say "yes, this will change child obesity forever." is beyond me. Ad's that deal with a touchy subject like this should be screened before released by a third party. I would be interested to see how these ads have effected children's' lives socially between their piers. I don't understand why they are attacking the children that are obese. I believe they should have focused on a campaign that would have promoted active living or a healthy lifestyle. Making someone sad about their body image will not promote action. An empowering ad would create more action. Excitement can be contagious, so why not play on that. 1 Comment |
